With league play underway things are starting to shake out in prep football. One thing is sure, De LA Salle seems to be really good again this year.
The Spartans were tested at St Mary's (Stockton) and somewhat at El Cerrito but had beaten Serra (San Mateo), St Francis (Mountain View) and Grant Sacramento by a combined score of 123-31.
De La Salle returns home from playing in England to face 6-0 San Ramon Valley.
El Cerrito. 5-1, is off to an encouraging start to 2024. EC did a good job of scheduling up having beat Amador Valley and Monterey Trails along with Oakland Tech and Campolindo so far this year.
The Gauchos have a league showdown with Salesian (Richmond) on deck Oct. 19th.
With only 19 players on a good day tiny McClymonds High in West Oakland has taken their lumps this season. Playing against schools with two, almost three times their roster size Mack is 3-4 but poised to make another run at a state championship.
Most teams have more players but few have more heart than McClymonds High the tiny school out of west Oakland.
The Warriors are 2-3 with their OAL league season on deck. With just 19 players McClymonds lost by a point to SF's Riordan and lost to St Francis and San Ramon Valley schools with at least twice Mack's roster.
Mack was a tired team after a month of football then came a bye week to recharge and recharge they did beating Berean Christian (Walnut Creek) 46-21.
